We are conveniently located just a stone's throw away from Abington, MA on Route 18. We've been serving the fine folks of Abington for nearly two decades teaching instruments like guitar, bass, piano and drums as well as classical instruments such as flute and saxophone. We incorporate music theory training into our weekly lessons so the student can take away more than just a few chords from any given lesson. Our instruction programs are designed to teach the foundation of songwriting and theory and help the student to play not only on their own but with other musicians as well if the opportunity should ever arise. Matt's Music offers well trained instructors with strong backgrounds and training in music education. In fact, many of our instructors graduated from the nearby Berklee College of Music. Come in and experience a lesson for yourself or give us a call if you have any questions!
Learning to play an instrument is an extremely rewarding experience for students of any age. If you still aren't convinced, here's 5 facts that might help:
1. Music study can help children understand advanced math concepts. Music involves ratios, fractions, proportions and thinking in space and time.
2. Young children with developed rhythm skills perform better academically in early school years.
3. High school music students score higher on SATs in both verbal and math than their peers.
4. College-age musicians are emotionally healthier than their non-musician counterparts.
5. Adults age slower in later life if they took at least five years of piano where they actively practiced.
